Find the BPM and key of any song in seconds

Knowing the tempo and key of a track is essential for DJs, producers, singers and cover artists. This free tool measures beats per minute by tracking rhythmic onsets, and estimates the key by comparing the song's pitch profile against all 24 major and minor keys.

Results include the Camelot wheel number used for harmonic mixing, the relative key and the neighbouring keys that blend smoothly. If the tempo looks doubled or halved, switch between half-time and double-time with one click.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the BPM and key detection?

For most pop, hip-hop, electronic and rock songs with a steady beat the BPM is accurate to within 1 BPM. Key detection is reliable for tonal music; songs that modulate or use unusual harmony may show a medium or low confidence with alternative keys.

Why does it show half or double the tempo I expected?

Tempo is ambiguous by nature — a 70 BPM ballad and a 140 BPM trap beat can share the same pulse. Use the Half and Double buttons to pick the reading that matches how you count the song.

What is the Camelot number?

The Camelot wheel assigns each key a number and letter (for example 8A for A minor). Keys with the same number, or one step away, mix together harmonically — that is what DJs use for smooth transitions.
