How to play Pitch Racer

A voice-controlled game that follows your pitch

Pitch Racer is a fully free voice game that turns your microphone into a game controller. It estimates the fundamental frequency of your voice directly in the browser, then maps higher and lower notes to the car’s position on the track.

You do not need to be a singer. Humming, whistling, or holding a vowel all work—as long as the sound has a clear, steady pitch.

1

Allow microphone access

Your browser needs permission to hear live pitch. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.

2

Set your center note

Start with a comfortable “oooh” or hum. Your first stable note becomes the center of the track.

3

Change pitch to steer

Raise your pitch to move toward the top and lower it to move toward the bottom.

4

Collect notes and rank

Avoid barriers, collect notes for bonus points, then save your score and retry.

How to get a higher score

Glide instead of jumping

Smooth changes in pitch make the car easier to control than sudden octave jumps.

Stay steady, not loud

The game follows frequency rather than volume. A relaxed, consistent sound works best.

Reduce background noise

Use a quiet room or headset microphone so music and other voices do not confuse detection.

Frequently asked questions

About this voice game

How does Pitch Racer detect my voice?

It uses the Web Audio API to analyze short audio frames and estimate their repeating waveform frequency. That frequency is converted into a smooth vertical position for the car.

Is this a volume-controlled or pitch-controlled game?

It is pitch controlled. Singing louder will not move the car higher; singing a higher musical note will.

Does AnyToSpeech record or upload my microphone audio?

No. This game analyzes the microphone stream locally in your browser. It does not create an audio recording or send your voice to the server.

Why is the car not following my voice?

Use a sustained “oooh,” hum, or whistle rather than speech. Check microphone permission, reduce background noise, and keep a consistent distance from your microphone.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes. Modern mobile browsers support microphone controls. You can also drag vertically on the game area if microphone access is unavailable.
